Knee injury
Personal injury and the knee
Knee injuries can take the form of damage to the ligaments and cartilage, or damage to the bone.
A personal injury to the ligament of the knee most frequently occurs when twisting forces are applied. This is why it can be fairly common as a personal injury during sport. The ligament can be either partially or completely torn depending on the type and strength of the forces applied to them.
A personal injury to the bone is most often a break of the patella, commonly known as the knee cap. Other possible fractures of the knee also include to the areas of the femur or tibia.
Knee injury repair
Repairing a knee injury involves physiotherapy. This is in order to rebuild the strength of the muscles and ligaments so that the knee can regain its normal function. A severely injured knee may require surgery to re-join any damaged tendons or ligaments before the natural healing process can begin.
