Personal Injury at the workplace
Personal injury can occur at work for many reasons. It is sometimes the fault of the employer because they have not put adequate safety measures in place. If this is the case the employer may be liable for compensation. Last year over 4.7 million working days were lost due to a personal injury occurring in the workplace, with over 131,000 accidents reported.
The risk factors of personal injury at work
Statistics show that the most personal injuries occur in construction, vehicle trades, agriculture and warehouse operations. They also show that males are much more likely to sustain a personal injury at work, because of the traditional differences in job roles for men and women.
The longer a person has worked in a particular role, the less risk of personal injury. A personal injury is most likely for those who have been in a particular role for 4 months or less.
